It’s taken many years and many photographs for me to realise that it’s the genre termed “Street Photography” which I’ve found to be what I do most often and more instinctively than any other style or aspect of taking pictures. Whether it’s distant, exotic location with stunning vistas landscapes features (or even wildlife!) or closer to home. more “ordinary” environments and backdrops, it’s apparent that my photographic eye is drawn to the more spontaneous and more immediate composition.
Looking back, I’m aware that, proportionally, a camera card (and once upon a time a film roll) contains more images of interesting and photogenic people and objects juxtapositioned in eye-catching, complementary or even contrasting backdrops.
An example of this, some might say almost inevitably, are my many many photographs taken in Italy, where, as well as stunning Tuscan vistas and architectural masterpieces and landscapes, it’s those photogenic and idiosyncratic people in fascinating locations that capture the eye.

I’m continuing my enjoyable and captivating journey in the genre of Street Photography. I’ll keep walking and practicing and looking to refine this “artform”.
