Some situations and images lend themselves to monochrome . It is often surprising how a Black and White version really brings an image to life by adding contrast and depth, giving it a new feel and perspective.
There are a number of ways of converting a digital image to Black and White and I have experimented with a variety of techniques. This exercise is something I enjoy because by trialling different methods it is fascinating what variations can be achieved. It is then down to personal taste and the feeling that is being conveyed as to which variation best suits the image.
The other technique and style I have used on a number of occasions and to good effect, is to “pop” a tone or colour back into the monochrome image. This works particularly well when accentuating the dominant colour of the main subject within the photograph.
