It seems that I have created a tradition. Some years ago I noticed how quite a few friends and family would insert a note or even a newsletter in their Christmas Card outlining events and happenings that have taken place during that year. It seemed like a good idea to let people know what’s been going on, and when started doing this I discovered that, with a bit of time and forethought, I could add a bit of sparkle and originality to the message by creating it in rhyming verses. This has been going on for quite a while now, […]
It seems like a long time since I added anything to my Blog, and without searching for excuses (like blaming George) I thought I’d update my website with a few photos and a slideshow from this years’ visit to the fabulous Chatsworth Horse Trials. This return to one of our favourite places was an enjoyable excursion, particularly as we were now able to include George in our adventures. A fabulous and dog-friendly cottage in the Chatsworth Estate was our home for a few days, and inevitably I was able to add to the many photos of Chatsworth, and of this […]
Our annual (and sometimes biannual ) visit(s) to fabulous Tuscany continue, resulting in much pleasure, consumption of great food and wine and of course a plethora of photographs. Our stay in Tuscany this summer was preceded by a few days staying in the Le Marche region of Italy, the calf muscle (or “gastrocnemius” ) in the boot of Italy. We stayed in Ancona and also visited Senigallia to its north and Loreto to its south, before heading back westwards through Perugia to our home-from-home Castellina-in-Chianti . Our visit to Le Marche was predicated on three main ideas. First, we wanted […]
Some might say that a blog post on a photographers website is not the appropriate place for a reminder about the devastating effects of Cancer and a request for people to remember to donate to those organisations and charities that are working to eradicate the disease. Well, having just attended the funeral of a dear friend, and with memories of similar occurrences over the last couple of years, I felt compelled to use this ”platform” to put something out there. Many of us had photographs of our good friend Mike, and one thing I knew I could do with them […]
This is my review bit Whenever we are in Derbyshire, notably for the Chatsworth Horse Trials, or to visit some friends who live in this great part of the world, we always try and make sure a visit to Hardwick Hall is on our itinerary. National Trust membership (or being married to someone who works for the Trust 😊 ) provides free entry to Hardwick Hall and all its wonders, including the Old Hall even though is now under the care of English Heritage. We always enjoy our visits to Hardwick as there are so many things to see, and […]
Sydney Slideshow (just click on the white play button, and then maximise the screen) Having reviewed the many photographs taken during our recent trip it comes as no great surprise that there is a keenness to return some day. In the meantime there is conciliation in looking through the many images and reminiscing. To make the task easier I’ve put together a slideshow of a few favourite shots. Rather than making the slideshow to cumbersome it seemed a good idea to divide the images, and so a visit to the New South Wales Art Gallery is recorded in one show […]
As many of my blog readers will have noticed, I am partial to composing a verse or two. I find it an enjoyable way of sending a message or sharing some information in a more humorous and compelling way. Many people add a note or two inside their Christmas cards, letting you know about events that might have happened since the last communication. For some this is a quick update and for others it can be quite a Newsletter. I would often do the same, and a few years ago I started putting the news into the form of verse. […]
Two of my favourite things are being in Italy and eating Italian food. Another of my favourite things is taking photographs. Here’s a little slideshow of some of the dishes I enjoyed during a recent trip.
